New Channels to Launch in the Coming Months Devoted to ALLBLK Originals, AMC en Espanol, Anime from HIDIVE, Dynamic Sports Content from Overtime and Short Film from Shorts
NEW YORK, NY, April 6, 2022 – As part of its 2022 upfront, AMC Networks today announced an expansion of its successful “Viewers First” strategy, through which it has developed a slate of dynamic FAST (free ad-supported streaming) channels distributed on an expanding array of platforms. AMC Networks began its development and deployment of distinct channels focused on its unique and valuable content two years ago, and has to date launched eight channels that are deployed across six leading FAST platforms.
The new channels under development and expected to launch in the coming months, which will all be live and programmed 24/7, are:
AMC en Español, which will feature favorite stories and characters from AMC’s critically acclaimed original programming. The channel will feature Spanish-language versions of shows like The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Rectify, Into the Badlands, Halt and Catch Fire, The Red Road and others.
ALLBLK Gems will feature programming from the fast-growing ALLBLK streaming service that is inclusively and unapologetically Black. This channel will spotlight favorite ALLBLK originals like Double Cross, A House Divided, Notorious Queens, My Mane Problem and many more.
HIDIVE x ANIME is a completely original FAST channel devoted to the best of anime, a rich and fast-growing content category that has captivated viewers from around the world. Anime is one of the world’s fastest growing content genres, and HIDIVE x ANIME will super-serve this fandom with high-quality original series straight from Japan.
Shorts and Cortos (the Spanish-language version of Shorts) is the world’s only FAST channel dedicated to short film, curated collections of award-winning films, more than 13,000 from around the globe including Thrillers, Drama, Comedy, Romance, Animation, Sci-Fi, Horror & Documentary.
OVERTIME, in addition to the five channels listed above, AMC has also entered into an innovative distribution partnership with Brooklyn-based Overtime. The new Overtime branded FAST channel gives sports fans the chance to follow the next generation of sports stars both on and off court. The channel’s programming mix includes more than 40 highly engaging original series curated as a FAST channel for the first time.

Series Would Premiere on AMC+ and AMC in 2023
NEW YORK – April 6, 2022 – AMC Networks today announced that it was fast-track developing a potential new series starring Bob Odenkirk for 2023 called Straight Man, with partners Sony Pictures’ Television TriStar TV and Gran Via. Aaron Zelman and Paul Lieberstein, who are adapting the project from the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo, would serve as co-showrunners. Straight Man would be Odenkirk’s third series on AMC, following Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Zelman, Lieberstein, Odenkirk, Peter Farrelly, who is on board to direct, Richard Russo, Naomi Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero are executive producers.
Straight Man is a mid-life crisis tale set at Railton College, told in the first person by William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chairman of the English department in a badly underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt.

New Series Produced by Boat Rocker Set in Orphan Black Universe to Premiere in 2023
NEW YORK – April 6, 2022 – AMC Networks today announced that it had greenlit Orphan Black: Echoes, a long-awaited new series set in the world of the landmark series Orphan Black, to appear on AMC+ and the company’s linear networks in 2023. Produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker, the company behind the original series, Orphan Black: Echoes will have a 10-episode first season. Anna Fishko (Pieces of Her, The Society, Fear the Walking Dead) is creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer with John Fawcett, the co-creator of the original series who also directed 17 episodes across all five seasons, on as director and executive producer. David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, executive producers from Boat Rocker on the original Orphan Black series, return as executive producers on the new series. Katie O’Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell, and Kerry Appleyard will also executive produce for Boat Rocker.
Set in the near future, the new Orphan Black takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.

AMC Networks earnings blow past estimates, ends year with more than 9 million streaming subscribers

AMC Networks Inc. AMCX, +0.66% said it achieved record revenue in 2021 and ended the year with more than 9 million paid streaming subscribers, posting fourth-quarter numbers that fell sharply from a year ago but blew past estimates. The network that is home to shows including "Fear the Walking Dead" posted net income of $17.0 million, or 39 cents a share, for the quarter, down from $94.7 million, or $2.09 a share, in the year-earlier period. Adjusted per-share earnings came to 54 cents, more than double the 19 cent FactSet consensus. Revenue rose 3% to $803.7 million from $780.3 million a year ago, also ahead of the $755.0 million FactSet consensus. The company is now on track to achieve its long-term goal of 20 million to 25 million subscribers by the end of 2025. For 2022, it is expecting strong demand for its original content, including the return of "Better Call Saul" and "Killing Eve." Shares were down about 1% premarket and have fallen 10% in the last 12 months, while the S&P 500 SPX, -1.17% has gained 13.7%.

An argument over the likelihood of a zombie apocalypse becoming a reality ended with a woman getting shot in the back by her boyfriend.

According to Nassau County Detective Lt. Raymond Cote, 26-year-old Jared Gurman of Long Island had an "ongoing debate" with his girlfriend Jessica Gelderman, 27, about whether AMC's The Walking Dead could play out in real life.
"He feels strongly about the possibility that some military mishap could occur. She thinks it's ridiculous," Cote told reporters. "She was not taking him seriously or taking the show as seriously as he does."
In the early hours of Monday morning, a text exchange between the two became heated, and Gelderman went to Gurman's apartment to calm him down.
However, Gurman, who greeted her with a .22 caliber assault rifle, refused her efforts to defuse the situation, and as soon as she entered the apartment, Gurman shot her in the back.
"Her injuries are a shattered rib, a pierced lung, a pierced diaphragm and she is in serious, but stable condition," Cote said, noting that Gurman drove Gelderman to the hospital himself.
Police arrested Gurman at the hospital and charged him with attempted second-degree murder.
