New Battery-Powered Workstations Bring Cargo
Planning Solutions to the Point of Task
DTG, the leading provider of industrial-strength power systems
and mobile workstation solutions, today launched its patent-pending
Caster Deck PowerStationTM, a mobile, battery-powered workstation
that enables cargo, logistics and freight companies to optimize
Unit Load Devices (ULD) weight balance planning on outdoor freight
loading decks, at the point of task. The DTG Caster Deck
PowerStation was designed for the air cargo fleet for the world’s
largest ecommerce provider, Amazon Air.
“Cargo, logistics and freight companies are continually
looking for ways to be more efficient with their load-planning
processes,” said Steve Shaheen, DTG CEO and co-founder. “DTG Caster
Deck PowerStations deployed at several Amazon Air cargo decks have
accelerated the load planning process while also greatly improving
worker safety while operating on top of caster deck systems.
Air freight load planning is a detailed, multi-step process of
gathering data on the items to be loaded on an aircraft and
calculating numerous aspects of the load plan. DTG Caster Deck
PowerStations accelerate and improve that process by enabling data
to be collected and entered in real-time as cargo is prepared for
aircraft loading. The workstations feature a hybrid swappable power
system to enable freight load-planning tasks to be performed
continuously without needing to recharge batteries, allowing for
100% uptime. Furthermore, the DTG Caster Deck PowerStations feature
a temperature-controlled chamber to protect technology devices from
heat and cold, enabling the load planning processes to be done
directly on the air freight dock in any weather. In addition,
having the workstation in close proximity to the airplane allows
the load planner to have direct radio communications with the pilot
and the ground services equipment operators, further improving
efficiency.
Air freight decks are typically constructed of multi-directional
caster wheels, making it difficult to bring technology solutions
onto them. DTG Caster Deck PowerStations are designed specifically
for these surfaces and can be locked in place when performing a
specific process or moved freely to another location to perform
another task.
The DTG Caster Deck PowerStation joins the company’s
comprehensive family of mobilized, battery powered PowerStations
for key markets, such as warehousing/3PL, hospitality,
manufacturing, healthcare and retail. All PowerStations offer the
industry’s safest and longest-lasting Lithium- Iron-Phosphate (LFP)
batteries available, based on the company’s proprietary
technology.
About DTG
DTG is the global leader in the design and delivery of mobilized
battery-powered workstations and advanced Lithium-Iron-Phosphate
