Procera Networks Introduces Next-Generation Midrange DPI Platform for Access Deployments
October 27 2008 - 4:00PM
Marketwired
Procera Networks Inc. (AMEX: PKT), a developer of Evolved Deep
Packet Inspection (DPI) solutions providing traffic awareness,
control and protection for complex networks, today announced the
PL7720, the next generation of Procera's midrange PacketLogic(TM)
suite of DPI platforms. Primarily intended for access network
deployments such as a "back-to-back" implementation with the CMTS
in a cable TV network, the configurable PL7720 replaces the
single-channel PL7600 and the dual-channel PL7620. The PL7000
series is the midrange set of offerings in a family of products led
by the carrier-grade PL10000 series, currently the industry's
highest-capacity DPI platform. Like the PL10000, the PL7720
leverages PacketLogic's renowned traffic identification engine,
DRDL(TM), which has been validated by third parties to be the most
accurate DPI engine available today.
"Considering the increasing adoption of bandwidth-heavy
applications like video, latency sensitive online games, and the
mix of business and leisure traffic in the same multi-function
network, deep packet inspection has become an increasingly
important network tool to deliver the quality and experience
expected by the online community today," said Jon Linden, vice
president of global marketing at Procera Networks. "With the
PL7720, we provide an updated midrange solution that meets the
evolving needs of our customer base in the higher education and
broadband service provider markets."
Provisioned on a 2RU chassis and configurable for either single
or dual channels, the PL7720 provides the complete PacketLogic
feature-set of real-time traffic monitoring, statistics reporting,
bandwidth management, layer-7 filtering and per-user service
creation. The PL7720's modular design, with front-mounted
components including network interfaces, hard drives and power
supplies, allows for simplified field replacements and enables
future upgrades to the system as network needs evolve. To ensure
platform security and increased product resiliency, the PL7720
comes with standard dual power supplies and dual hard disk drives
in a RAID configuration.
The PacketLogic PL7720 is available now. Interested parties can
find out more by visiting www.proceranetworks.com/PL7720 or meeting
Procera at the NGT Summit, which is taking place Wednesday through
Friday in Dallas.
