Whirlpool Foundation Announces 2008 Community Sons & Daughters Scholarship Winners

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., April 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Whirlpool
Foundation announced the results of the 56th annual Sons &
Daughters Scholarship competition on behalf of Whirlpool
Corporation's Twin Cities grouping. Three $16,000 scholarships,
payable over four years, two $2,500 Honor Awards and one $1,000
Incentive Award were presented to outstanding graduating high

applicants were strong, yet this year's winners are to be
congratulated for their distinct accomplishments and their
particular eagerness to begin what should be promising academic and
professional careers," said Barbara Hall, executive director of the
Whirlpool Foundation. Whirlpool Foundation 2008 Sons &
Daughters Scholarship Program winners for the Twin Cities grouping
are as follows: Scholarship Awards Kristine Cudahy of Lakeshore
High School, daughter of Catherine & J.B. Hoyt. Kristine will
attend Georgetown University in the fall of 2008. Ryan Pawloski of
Saint Joseph High School, son of Lisa and Richard Pawloski. Ryan is
headed to Michigan State University in the fall of 2008. Lian Zhu
of Saint Joseph High School, daughter of Min Li and Jane Zhu. Lian
plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall of 2008.
Honor Awards Patrick Rollings of St. Joseph's High School (South
Bend), son of Michael and Kathleen Mikula. Patrick will attend
Indiana University in the fall. Jessica Ramsay of Saint Joseph High
School, daughter of Scott Ramsay and Jerri Shold. Jessica will
attend either the University of Wisconsin or The Ohio State
University. William Schlaack of Lakeshore High School, son of
Michael and Angela Schlaack, LaPorte Division, also received an
Honor Award through the Field Grouping, which includes the LaPorte
Division. William will be attending Kalamazoo College in the fall.
Incentive Award Benjamin Lewis, of South Haven High School, son of
Bryan & Carol Lewis. Benjamin will attend either Calvin College
or Hope College in the fall. This year's Twin Cities winners were
evaluated by a judging panel selected from community organizations
and included the Honorable Judge Mabel Mayfield of the Berrien
County Courts; Kevin Monahan, Associate Director of Career Services
for the University of Notre Dame; and Jon Wallace, co-owner of
Carter Wallace Mortgage. Whirlpool Foundation thanks each of the
judges for their time, effort and dedication to reviewing all
applications and interviewing the finalists. For more than 55
years, over 1,600 sons and daughters of Whirlpool Corp. employees
have received scholarships to help finance their college
