New Fixed Income SPDRs(SM) Track the Performance of Various
Segments of U.S. Treasury and Aggregate Bond Markets NEW YORK, May
30 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange(R) (Amex(R))
announced today that it has launched trading in five new fixed
income exchange traded funds (ETFs) by State Street Global Advisors
(State Street). "Amex and State Street share a longtime
collaborative commitment to bringing innovative investment vehicles
to the marketplace," said Scott Ebner, Senior Vice President of the
Amex ETF Marketplace. "We are pleased to have been chosen to list
these SPDRs which are designed to provide investors with
opportunities in the U.S. treasury and aggregate bond markets." The
new ETFs are: SPDR(R) Lehman 1-3 Month T-Bill ETF (Symbol: BIL) BIL
seeks to track the Lehman Brothers 1-3 Month U.S. Treasury Bill
Index. The Index measures the performance of public obligations of
the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of greater than or
equal to 1 month and less than 3 months. SPDR(R) Lehman
Intermediate Term Treasury ETF (Symbol: ITE) ITE seeks to track the
total return performance of the Lehman Brothers Intermediate U.S.
Treasury Index. The Index measures the performance of public
obligations of the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of
greater than or equal to 1 year and less than 10 years. SPDR(R)
Lehman Long Term Treasury ETF (Symbol: TLO) TLO seeks to track the
total return performance of the Lehman Brothers Long U.S. Treasury
Index. The Index measures the performance of public obligations of
the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of 10 or more
years. SPDR(R) Barclays Capital TIPS ETF (Symbol: IPE) IPE seeks to
track the total return performance of the Barclays U.S. Government
Inflation-linked Bond Index. The Index measures the performance of
the inflation protected public obligations of the U.S. Treasury.
Inflation protected public obligations of the U.S. Treasury (TIPS)
are securities issued by the U.S. Treasury and are designed to
provide inflation protection to investors. SPDR(R) Lehman Aggregate
Bond ETF (Symbol: LAG) LAG seeks to track the total return
performance of the Lehman Brothers U.S. Aggregate Index. The Index
represents the securities of the U.S. dollar denominated investment
