US sanctions on Russia and Russian oligarchs seem to be the source of the drawdown right now. Here are a couple of lines cherry picked from Zerohedge
"Toxic Assets": Ruble Crashes, Russian Stocks Plunge Most In 4 Years After US Sanctions
"We havenโt seen such a united, mass retreat from Russian assets for a long time. The situation is ever more reminiscent of 2014.
Cryptos Crash As Russian Sanctions Ripple Through Markets.
Despite news that more ultra-elite family wealth (Rockefellers) is being aimed at cryptocurrencies, it seems the US sanctions against Russian oligarchs has created some anxiety in the space with Ethereum and Bitcoin plunging.
Likely (hopefully) a sympathy sell-off and a buying opportunity more than anything but time will tell. The people who truly run this country, our own oligarchs, seem intent on really pissing Russia off and have for a couple of years now. To what end I can only wonder.

I do get NIA's emails and bought the stock the day they first announced it (at least the first day I saw a post from them). Got some in the 15's on that 5 mil vol day back in late Dec. But no, didn't see their recent email about earnings. That I saw posted from Seeking Alpha.
I do now look for the small print in NIA's emails as to whether they were paid to promote a company or not. As you and maybe others have noted, they don't seem to have been paid to promote this one and I like that others have also commented favorably on the name, notably the guy who posted in Seeking Alpha. I don't have a very big position here, sub 500 shares, and truth be told, I'm almost hoping we get that big waterfall decline so I can get into a few names I like at a discount to current levels (and play with TVIX). So I'm sitting with some positions but also +50% in dry powder and watching.

Post in Zero Hedge today about Otkritie Bank, which owns a bunch of shares, maybe needing a bailout. They the ones that made the big tender offer some months ago.
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-16/russia-mulls-additional-trillion-ruble-bailout-failing-banks. "In August 2017 we noted Russia's largest private lender was in trouble and required a bailout. Then a month later, a second bank hit the wall and was bailed out. And now, five months later, Russia's central bank is mulling a further capital injection of a trillion rubles to rescue Otkritie and B&N Banks.
This is a portion of a very positive Seeking Alpha article on QIWI which mentions the bank. Likely you've all seen it already if you got here via NIA as some have mentioned:
".....In fact, as I discovered, the value in QIWI is so apparent that Otkritie, one of Russia's largest banks, in June of this year, commenced a tender offer to purchase for cash up to 24.8 million class B shares (QIWI has a dual share structure - there are 15.5 million class A shares and 45.08 million class B shares. Each class A share represents 10 votes, and each Class B share represents 1 vote) at a purchase price of $28.00 - a substantial premium to where it was trading then and where it is trading now. The tender offer was conditioned upon tendering of almost 50% of the class B shares not currently owned by Otkritie, and in the end, it failed. Only 12,539,256 shares had been tendered, significantly less than the minimum of 20,286,207 that was required (the tender failed after Mr. Solonin, who controls the company through preferential shares, said he would not sell despite a significant premium. Otkritie Bank then bought 12.2 percent of QIWI's shares for $99.5m from minority investors). Regardless, in an SEC filing by Otkritie, it was stated that it "continues to review its investment in QIWI and may, at any time, acquire additional securities in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions, with or without prior notice." In fact, on October 11th, 2017, Otkritie true to its word, purchased 1,225,000 ADS (American Depository Shares) at a price of 985 rubles (approximately $17) and 833,000 more shares at the same price. On November 30, 2017, Otkritie once again went on a buying spree and purchased a total of 2,199,898 ADS at a price of 938,000 rubles (approximately $16 a share) and on December 1, 2017, an additional 2,200,000 ADS at the same price. It is pretty clear that notwithstanding the failed tender, Otkritie continues to be interested in acquiring shares of QIWI."
I'm long a smallish holding of the stock.

QIWI seems to be a "two steps forward, one step backwards" stock, but the momentum remains up and positive.
I looked at the technicals again this morning, and they all look good. $18.39 is the 200 day MA, and that is the target that QIWI needs to get through, and then stay above. Once that happens, we should see a nice move up.
I own the common stock, and some Feb 17.50 calls, and I am down 50% on the calls.
And some PR or any news about the Russian Cryptoruble would really help. For now - just hanging on.......

I follow NIA as well, but they didnโt list any compensation for profiling this company. Maybe they did, but they didnโt list it. I mean plenty of stocks they do comped for, they list the amount of money, or how much stock they were given and for how long they are profiling for. But they didnโt list anything for this profile, which makes me more excited!

Yes, I did get QIWI from NIA, but I am not associated with them in any way.
My experience with them has been very good, as almost all of their recommendations over the past several years have been seriously good winners - including this one.
So, I take them as a good source of stock suggestions, even though I know they are getting comped for their recommendations.
And technically, QIWI looks very good with the next break-out coming at $19-20.

Siberbank may want to use $QIWI as their man on the inside in the global #blockchain consortium. (Sberbank is majority owned by the state while Qiwi is privately held.) $QIWI has #Russian government and the Russian Central bank ownership behind it from their interest in #Otkritie.
QIWI is developing the #BitRuble #cryptocurrency.
It has backdoor support from the Russian government/Central bank.
