Notice of Record Date and Proposed Year-End Dividend for Period Ending
March 31, 2003

Sony Corporation (the "Company") intends to recommend to its
shareholders for approval at its Ordinary General Meeting of
Shareholders for the annual fiscal period ending March 31, 2003, which
is scheduled to be held in June 2003, the distribution of a year-end
cash dividend at the rate of 12.50 Japanese yen per share of the
Company's Common Stock held by the shareholders of record at the end
of business on March 31, 2003 (the "Record Date") for the semi-annual
period ending the Record Date. The ex-dividend date of the year-end
cash dividend on the Tokyo Stock Exchange will be March 26, 2003.
