Phillips 66 reported equipment problems that led to above-normal emissions of gases Tuesday at its Sweeny refinery in Texas.

"One of the transformer rectifiers (EP-2D) tripped off-line causing a reduction in the capture of catalyst fines and resulting in 14 six-minute periods of excess opacity," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The 247,000-barrel-a-day refinery is located in Old Ocean, southwest of Houston.
