The Amelia County, Virginia Parks & Recreation Department
has teamed up with Virginia Interactive (VI) to create a brand new,
mobile-ready solution with a deep array of online services. The
Amelia County Parks & Recreation application has already
received awards after launching earlier this month. The service was
recently honored by the prestigious MarCom awards, which recognizes
national excellence in marketing and communication.
The solution not only fields features in one easy-to-navigate
location, but it also allows for greater access to recreation
services for youth and families. Parents and guardians can now
easily locate activities and complete all the necessary steps for
connecting the nearly 400 youth that participate annually to
programs within the county easily and more conveniently. Citizens
are able to register their children for any one of 12 sports across
a range of age groups, with more sports becoming available. A
selection of eight facilities are also available for rental,
including everything from weight rooms to outdoor pavilions. Secure
online payments and administrative tools for the county to better
track and report on services round out the offerings of the new,
innovative solution.
“VI has helped us totally recreate our parks and recreation
sports registration process. No more driving in with paper forms
for our citizens - we can now register our children for sports (or
ourselves for classes) with the click of a button,” says Carla
Cave, Amelia County Finance Director. “This has been a major goal
for us as a county, and Virginia Interactive made it happen. We
have truly enjoyed the experience and can’t say enough about the
team we worked with from VI. Two highly enthusiastic thumbs up from
Amelia County.”
All of these features come together to form an innovative and
convenient solution that is fully secure and able to grow with the
county for many years to come. Funding for the project was made
possible through VI’s flexible model designed to eliminate up-front
cost via a fixed transactional fee per registration.
“I am proud that our partnership with Amelia County has resulted
in this innovative solution that will make registering for sports
and facilities easier and more convenient for the citizens of the
county,” said Travis Sarkees, VI General Manager. “Our mission is
to create solutions that makes citizens’ interactions with state
and local government simpler, and we have achieved this with the
new Amelia County Parks & Recreation solution.”
