Famous Dave's of America Inc. Chief Executive Ed Rensi has
stepped down after less than two years on the job, the second CEO
to leave after a short time on the job.
He will be succeeded by Adam Wright in the role of interim CEO.
Mr. Wright is an independent director and the founding principal of
Blue Clay Group, an activist fund that won a board seat for him in
2013 after it launched a campaign against the Minnetonka,
Minn.-based company.
The barbecue chain has hired an executive-search firm to find a
permanent replacement.
Mr. Rensi took the helm as CEO in February 2014 after his
predecessor, John Gilbert, unexpectedly resigned after less than
two years on the job. Mr. Rensi, who formerly worked at McDonald's
Corp., will continue to serve on the Famous Dave's board, focusing
on international expansion efforts.
Shares, inactive premarket, have declined about 21% this year
through Wednesday's close.
