Appointment of Finance Director

Golf Club Holdings Plc, the owner and operator of high quality
members' golf clubs, is pleased to announce the appointment of
David C N Gray, aged 52, as Finance Director with effect from
1st May 1998.

After 15 years with Thorn EMI plc, David Gray joined
Electrocomponents plc, a #400m distribution company as a Group
Financial Controller in 1989.  In 1992 he moved to David Lloyd
Leisure plc, the health and leisure company as a Finance
Director, and was closely involved in the company's flotation on
the London Stock Exchange in 1993, staying until shortly before
its takeover by Whitbread plc in 1995.



Commenting on the appointment, Martin Knight, Chairman, said :
"David Gray's experience in publicly quoted companies and in
particular his time as Finance Director of David Lloyd Leisure
PLC prior to, during and after flotation of that company, will,
we believe, be invaluable to GCH as it continues its strategy of
profitable expansion through acquisitions and the development of
its existing assets."



David Gray's appointment comes immediately after the acquisition
of GCH's fifth golf club.  The Group's portfolio of quality
members' clubs now includes:

The Lambourne Golf Club, Burnham, South Bucks

South Winchester Golf Club, Winchester

Batchworth Park Golf Club, Rickmansworth

The Vale Golf Club, Evesham

The Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club, Northwich, Cheshire
