CKI, Hongkong Electric Consortium Offers GBP5.78 Billion For EDF Grids

A consortium led by Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Ltd.
(1038.HK) and Hongkong Electric Holdings Ltd. (0006.HK) is offering
GBP5.78 billion for three electricity distribution networks in the
U.K. owned by Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR), the companies said
in a joint statement Monday.
Cheung Kong Infrastructure and Hongkong Electric each hold 40%
of the consortium. The remaining 20% is held by tycoon Li
Ka-shing's two charitable organizations.
The total consideration comprises debt and GBP3.18 billion worth
of equity, the firms said.
The offer is open until Oct. 24, the companies said in a
statement.
