Tirex Resources Ltd.(TSX VENTURE:TXX) ("Tirex") is pleased to announce that
drilling of extensions of the historic Gurthi Central Deposits is now underway
on the Mirdita VMS Project in Albania.

Compilation of historic data by Tirex indicates that Gurthi Central consists of
two deposits, both open for expansion. The first Tirex drill hole has now
started and is targeted to intersect the VMS mineral horizon about 100m downdip
of (at depth from) the old mine workings on the Gurthi Central No. 1 Deposit.
Plans are then to systematically drill test the full extent of both deposits.

Gurthi Central is an area of significant interest to Tirex. It was the last
historical producer in the Mirdita VMS District. The Gurthi Central mine
workings are not currently accessible but recently compiled data indicate that
the mining encountered two Noranda-type Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide ("VMS")
deposits with significant values in copper, zinc, gold and silver. The Albanian
Geological Survey reports that Gurthi Central produced 772,200 tonnes of copper
bearing rock of unspecified grade mainly from the Gurthi Central No. 1 Deposit.
The nearby Gurthi Central No. 2 Deposit was being prepared for mining when
operations ceased. Former miners report that the mine was shut down in 2000 due
to political and metal market factors and not lack of mineral. They also report
that zinc-rich portions were not mined and were left in the ground due to lack
of zinc processing facilities in Albania. Tirex personnel assayed selected
samples from the Gurthi Central mine dump which returned high grades in copper,
zinc, gold and silver confirming reports by former miners (for details see the
NI43-101 report available on the Tirex website at www.TirexResources.com).

Bryan Slusarchuk, CEO, states, "We have been eagerly anticipating drilling the
Gurthi Central area since we first started field work at Mirdita. As this was an
area where a lot of mining activity occurred, there was a lot of historical data
that our technical team needed to compile before we started drilling. We also
wanted to complete our own geophysical analysis of the area to complement the
historical data and needed to build access roads to the drill locations of
choice. Former explorers did not drill these extensions due to the rugged
terrain in the area. The Tirex team has met that challenge and drilling has
begun. With the extensive logistical preparation and compilation work of Gurthi
Central now complete, we will now be aggressively drilling this target area.
Exploring these deposits for the first time with modern technology and modern
geological interpretation will be another exciting phase in the District-scale
exploration program Tirex is conducting at Mirdita."

Tirex is a company purpose-built to explore and develop the large 344 square
kilometer Mirdita Property in Albania. The nature of the VMS mineralization in
this District provides Tirex investors with exposure to a high grade basket of
metals: Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver. The property is readily accessible by
paved and gravel roads and is located 70 km north of the capital city of Tirana.
The property covers the core of the historically productive Mirdita VMS base
metal district. It represents an opportunity to explore Copper, Zinc, Gold and
Silver zones that were previously partially mined, explored or evaluated at
lower metal prices, and provides an opportunity to apply modern exploration
techniques toward the discovery of new VMS deposits and extensions of known
zones. In addition to the historical deposits identified by previous state-run
exploration, Tirex has identified numerous high priority exploration targets
resulting from the 2007 airborne geophysical survey, ongoing ground geophysics
and field work. The Mirdita exploration project is managed by an experienced
team of Canadian geologists and other professionals, and several senior Albanian
geologists, geophysicists and surveyors.
