Siemens Energy AG said Friday that it has signed an agreement
with TC Energy Corp. to build a waste heat-to-power facility in
Alberta, Canada.
The German energy company said the facility is meant to capture
waste heat from a gas-fired turbine operating at a pipeline
compression station and convert it into emissions-free power. The
electricity produced will be put back in the grid, allowing to cut
an estimated 44,000 tons of greenhouse gas per year.
As part of the deal, Siemens Energy will own and operate the
facility, with the option to transfer it back to TC Energy at a
later date.
The facility is set to be commissioned at the end of 2022,
according to the company.
