AXA Foundation Announces $670,000 in Scholarships NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2008 AXA Achievement(SM) Scholarship applications are available and the deadline is quickly approaching. The application can be downloaded from http://www.axa-achievement.com/ and must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2007. The scholarship launched in U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges issue. The AXA Foundation will award $670,000 in scholarships to students throughout the nation. This is the sixth year of the AXA Achievement(SM) Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report. Fifty-two high school seniors - one from each state, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico - will be selected to receive one-time scholarship awards of $10,000. From the pool of 52, 10 students will be selected as national winners, earning an additional scholarship award of $15,000, a laptop and the opportunity for an internship at one of AXA's offices. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated ambition, drive, respect for self, family and community, and the ability to succeed in college. "We developed AXA Achievement because we understand how challenging financing an education can be. AXA Achievement provides resources that help make attending college an attainable goal. Through our scholarship programs we provide more than $1.3 million a year to outstanding young people across the country," said Kip Condron, Chairman and CEO of AXA Equitable.
