0441 GMT - SAG-AFTRA is among the most mentioned entities in the news over the past 12 hours, according to Factiva data, after the guild failed to reach a labor agreement with Hollywood studios. Members of the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists went on strike Friday, after a deadline to reach a three-year deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers passed. Issues include the magnitude of residual payments and protections for guild members around the use of artificial intelligence to generate their likenesses. AMPTP said Thursday that its offer included the biggest increase to minimum payments in 35 years, as well as a 76% bump for most streaming foreign residuals. It also proposed safeguards to protect performers' digital likenesses, including "a requirement for performer's consent for the creation and use of digital replicas or for digital alterations of a performance." Hollywood writers are also on strike. A prolonged writer and actor strike could leave broadcast and cable networks without scripted TV episodes ready for early fall and squeeze Hollywood's content pipeline. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
