Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple Inc., took home $99.42 million in total compensation in 2022, but will see less in 2023, the company said in a filing Thursday.

In 2022, Mr. Cook received a salary of $3 million, $12 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, and about $1.5 million in all other compensation, Apple said. He also received almost $83 million in stock awards.

For 2023, Mr. Cook's total target compensation is $49 million, the company said. The compensation committee approved the 2023 target after balancing "shareholder feedback, Apple's exceptional performance, and a recommendation from Mr. Cook to adjust his compensation in light of the feedback received," Apple said.

The changes to the CEO's compensation were supported by Mr. Cook, and the compensation committee believes they are responsive to shareholder feedback, Apple said.

In 2021, Mr. Cook received a $3 million salary and total compensation of $98.7 million. In the prior year, his salary was $3 million and his total compensation was some $14 million.
