The FTSE 100 lost 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France's CAC 40 was flat and Germany's DAX dropped 0.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 98.01.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 1% to $79.68 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 1.1% to $74.72 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 2.636% from 2.646%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.488% from 4.471%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down as Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 0.5%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.2%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.3%.
