ROME--Assicurazioni Generali SpA (G.MI) has sold its 4.8% stake in Pirelli & Co SpA (PC.MI), according to a filing published Monday by Italian securities regulator Consob.

Generali, Italy's largest insurer, completed the sale on Dec. 16, according to Consob's web site.

The stake was worth around 283 million euros ($388 million) at current market prices.

Generali has under its new chief executive, Mario Greco, announced it intends to sell assets it has held for years as part of a network of corporate relations inside Italy.
