                      CML Microsystems Plc ("the Company")

                               Holding in Company


The Company was notified on 26 March 2003 by Liontrust Investment Funds Limited
("Liontrust") of its shareholding in the Company's ordinary 5p shares ("Ordinary
Shares"). Liontrust is the operator of four authorised unit trusts, the
underlying assets of which are managed by Liontrust Investment Services Limited.
Both companies are wholly owned by Liontrust Asset Management Plc.


As at the close of business on 26 March 2003 some of these managed funds
collectively held a total of 1,864,122 Ordinary Shares representing 12.75 per
cent. of the Company's issued Ordinary Share capital.
