Regions Bank today announced it has created a new Wealth
Management Group integrating its Trust, Private Banking and
Insurance units within a single business line. The group will be
led by Bill Ritter, who most recently served as senior executive
vice president and Central Region president. The bank also
announced that industry veteran John M. Turner Jr., former
president of Whitney National Bank, has joined the company as
Central Region president. Both will report to Regions President and
CEO Grayson Hall and will serve on the company’s Operating
Committee.
“Establishing this new business line will help us advance our
strategic plan by focusing on a key, profitable customer segment
with the goal of increasing our non-interest revenue, deepening
customer relationships and providing greater value to them,” said
Hall. “Bill’s breadth of experience within the bank and proven
leadership skills make him an ideal fit for this new role. At the
same time, the opportunity to add someone of John Turner’s stature
and experience to lead our Central Region will add even more
strength to our management team.”
Ritter, 40, has served the company as Central Region president
since 2008, overseeing banking operations in Alabama, Georgia and
South Carolina. Prior to this role he served as North Central
Alabama area executive and North Central Alabama area commercial
banking executive. His earlier experience includes roles as
commercial banking sales manager in North Central Alabama and as
the business banking sales manager for North Central Alabama. He
earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University
and is a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Georgetown.
Active in the community, he serves on the boards of directors for
the McWane Science Center, Lakeshore Foundation, Innovation Depot,
Alabama Symphony, and the Public Affairs Research Council of
Alabama.
Turner, 49, was named president of Whitney National Bank and
Whitney Holding Corporation and was elected to the bank and holding
company Boards of Directors in 2008. Turner joined Whitney in 1994
as its Alabama regional president after serving in senior consumer
and business positions with AmSouth Bank. He holds a bachelor’s
degree in economics from the University of Georgia. He is a former
chairman of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, former chairman of
the Mobile Area Education Foundation, a former chairman of the
United Way of Southwest Alabama, a graduate of Leadership Alabama
