You know very little about CarMax, they send NOTHING OUT. They buy lightly damaged lease cars from the auction and will do some body work in-house. They do no major mechanical work unless it is a warranty job. The production stores do everything in house. There is a reason CarMax is the largest wholesaler in the country. As Iβve seen on other boards, you seem to talk out of your a,,,,s a lot.

The only thing keeping CarMax and Carvana alive is Allied Financial which at any moment could make either or both insolvent, in my opinion.
Both CM, CV, and AutoNation are sitting on hundreds of thousands of vehicles that a depreciating at an accelerated rate as the manufacturers are putting out huge rebates ($8,000 - $12,000 and some dealers are sending brand new cars to auction because their floorplan financing is up.
I see both CM and CV being crucified in the very near future. I never believed the Carvana financials and do not believe they are accurate, in my opinion

The Wall Street Journal, a new investigation by Ben Foldy and Mike Colias reveals a host of complaints against Carvana. Foldy and Colias unearthed a number of complaints regarding βincorrect paperwork, delays getting titles and registrations, and other troubles with the purchasing processβ sent to state agencies and the Better Business Bureau. Itβs prompted multiple states to take action against the company.
The most alarming of these complaints, made by several people who bought their cars on Carvana, related to documents that they needed for registration purposes. In these cases, Carvana did not send the required documents on time, which meant that the buyers were unable to drive their newly-purchased cars β causing understandable frustration.
As Jalopnik noted in their report on this issue, this doesnβt seem to be an industry-wide issue. Car Max received significantly fewer complaints than Carvana, despite selling significantly more cars. All of which might serve as a wake-up call: if the person you just sold a car is unable to drive it for weeks or months after the sale, theyβre probably not going to buy another one from you.

Wall Street bulls defend CarMax after post-earnings drop
Dec. 22, 2020 9:53 AM ETCarMax, Inc. (KMX)By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor
CarMax (NYSE:KMX) is being largely defended on Wall Street after its FQ3 report topped estimates but re-assuring 2021 guidance wasn't posted.
Evercore ISI (Outperform): "CarMax is taking market share and driving profitable growth. While some (us included) expected even more from the used car leader, we remain constructive into 2021 on a materially improved set up for a multichannel leader that fits our M.E.N.D. framework at a 20% discount to the S&P. FY3Q results show continued progress after COVID crushed demand to start the year, with EPS of $1.42 +37% beating our $1.16 and the Streetβs $1.13. Robust CAF results drove most of the beat, with lower SGA/better wholesale making up for a retail used unit comp miss (-0.8% YoY vs. EVR 2.5% and the Streetβs +3.5%). The pushback is why arenβt comps stronger given that digital competitors like Carvana are likely growing in excess of 40% in a comparable period?... Stay the course, as KMX risk reward is appealing in our view with a favorable set up on M.E.N.D. positioning. CarMax 3Q highlights of positive total unit sales, strong wholesale and CAF profits are good, although comps down 0.8% are materially below the 'normalized' 5-8% we expect."
Bank of America (Buy): "KMXβs continued investment in its omni-channel platform and new store openings. CarMax Auto Finance income was a bright spot in 3Q, +55% YoY to $176mm (BofAe $98mm), reflecting lower provision for credit losses and higher net margin and average managed receivables. In total, we were impressed by KMX's 3Q results in light of current market volatility. We maintain our Buy rating, and view any potential weakness or volatility in the stock off the underperformance on SSS as a particularly attractive entry point."
Shares of CarMax have extended on their premarket drop and are now down 4.55%. The stock was on Seeking Alpha's Catalyst Watch with it unclear if guidance for the year ahead would be issued.

$KMX Carmax is in the sweet spot of Retail. Bullish
Earnings are approaching and NYSE:KMX is one of the sweet spots in retail. New car sales are declining which limits the supply of second hand cars , this in turn increases demand and prices in the second hand market, improving margins and earnings . The same can be said for parts suppliers etc as cars are been maintained for longer. The chart illustrates just how good the sector is, the price is about to bang heads with the ATH level once again and earnings may be the stimulus to get past that level. Set alert for break above $82.
AVERAGE ANALYSTS PRICE TARGET $83

Still under value even after an awesome day.
Check Vector Vest. It has the stock valued at $88.88 and that was even before this report.
VALUE
Current Price: $80.19
Current Value: $88.88
KMX has a current Value of $88.88 per share, which is undervalued compared to its Price of $80.19 per share. Value is computed from forecasted earnings per share, forecasted earnings growth, profitability, interest, and inflation rates.
CarMax's biggest growth in units sold came from wholesale sales to other dealers -- up 9.6%. Gross profits from wholesale sales also grew 9.6%.
Thus, the surprising conclusion to this quarter's results appears to be that CarMax benefited most from an expanding role as car buyer of first resort. More and more often, people are bringing their old cars to CarMax to appraise and buy; then CarMax turns around and resells them wholesale to other dealers, taking its cut in the process. More than one in three cars CarMax sold last quarter were sold in this way.
Whether or not the EU and Trump get into an auto trade war it will only serve to help KMX in the near future as demand for used cars both wholesale and retail continue.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this trend develop in the future. Advising investors on what to expect over the course of the next year, CarMax let on that it plans to open 15 new car superstores through May 31, 2019, nine of them in cities with "populations of 600,000 or less, which we define as small markets." As the new big fish in these small ponds, I'd expect CarMax to attract an outsize share of car trade-ins there as well, further beefing up the company's powerful wholesale vehicle purchase-and-resale business.
