Interference Locating System Unveiled at
Mobile World Congress
PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in simplifying wireless and
site solutions for private and public networks, announced the
launch of SeeWave™, an interference detection and location system,
at Mobile World Congress today. Interference severely impacts
network performance. On 4G LTE network deployments, the effects of
interference may include significantly reduced data throughput
rates and Quality of Service. SeeWave streamlines the expensive and
time consuming task of detecting and locating interfering signals,
a crucial step in restoring network performance. SeeWave uses
advanced spectrum analysis and proprietary algorithms to identify
interference and locate its source.
SeeWave utilizes PCTEL's leading edge SeeGull® scanning
receiver. A host platform links the scanner to both a
direction-finding antenna and a touchscreen tablet. The platform
can be held comfortably in one hand while the user operates
SeeWave’s intuitive software application. Scanning receiver,
platform, antenna, and tablet combine to create an economical,
easy-to-use, and highly effective interference hunting system.
SeeWave capabilities can be layered onto deployed EX and MX
scanning receivers. A custom, purpose built PCTEL antenna enables
accurate interference location.
“As spectrum allocations evolve and frequency bands are
re-farmed, interference becomes increasingly disruptive to mobile
networks,” said David Neumann, PCTEL’s Vice President and General
Manager, RF Solutions. “SeeWave helps operators eliminate quality
robbing interferers and optimize network performance. Customers can
use SeeWave with current scanning receivers, thus leveraging their
initial PCTEL investment in SeeGull scanners,” added Neumann.
SeeWave marks PCTEL’s second new product announcement at Mobile
World Congress. Yesterday, it introduced the SeeGull IBflex™
scanning receiver. The portable scanner is designed especially for
in-building walk testing. It features hot swappable batteries, and
it can be used to test WiFi along with all major wireless
technologies. IBflex is one of many PCTEL scanner models which will
be fully compatible with SeeWave.
