Names Riders for La Grande Boucle EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 19
/PRNewswire/ -- During a joint press conference held in London this
morning, Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) and Team CSC
today announced the nine cyclists who will represent Team CSC, the
number-one team in the world, during the 2006 Tour de France. Team
CSC's Tour de France roster includes Ivan Basso (Italy), Bobby
Julich (USA), Giovanni Lombardi (Italy), Stuart O'Grady
(Australia), Carlos Sastre (Spain), Frank Schleck (Luxembourg),
Christian Vande Velde (USA), Jens Voigt (Germany) and David
Zabriskie (USA). Basso is widely considered a favorite in this race
after his recent win of the Giro d'Italia. Previously, he placed
third in the 2004 Tour de France and second in 2005. "During our
six-year partnership with Team CSC, we've watched them work as a
team to grow, excel and systematically reach the important
milestones they've set out for themselves," said CSC President and
COO Mike Laphen. "This commitment to proven processes and long-term
view is just one of the many characteristics we share with Team
CSC. We look forward to watching Ivan lead the team to that next
milestone -- a win at the Tour de France." "We are bringing a
fantastic team to Tour de France this year," said Bjarne Riis,
owner and manager of Team CSC. "When you look at the names, you
cannot help but notice that this is a team to be reckoned with -- a
team which has the foundation to be one of the dominating ones in
the 2006 edition of the Tour. We go to France this year with one
ambition: to win with Ivan Basso. After his victory in the Giro,
and with the training he has done in the period since then, I have
no doubt he is ready for this next big challenge. He has the class,
the willpower and also the team behind him to be one of the
favorites." The Tour de France departs Strasbourg, France, on
Saturday, July 1, and finishes in Paris on Sunday, July 23. Watch
