London Stock Exchange Group PLC said Tuesday that it has agreed to buy identity verification data company Global Data Consortium Inc for an undisclosed sum.

The exchange operator and financial-data provider said that the deal is expected to close in the first half of this year, subject to regulatory approvals.

Refinitiv, in which LSEG bought last January for $15 billion, acquired a 11% stake in GDC in 2020.

"This transaction delivers a compelling opportunity to acquire a strategic capability aligned to our vision of becoming a market-leading global digital identity and fraud solutions provider," LSEG Group Head of Customer & Third-Party Risk Solutions Phil Cotter said.
