               LEADING BRITISH WRITER SIGNED TO WRITE SCREENPLAY



HandMade Plc (HMF.L), the rights ownership, film production, merchandising and
licensing company, is pleased to announce that leading British writer Rupert
Walters has been signed to write a screenplay based on the extraordinary wartime
activities of SAS creator David Stirling.



To provide source material HandMade has optioned the quintessential biography of
Stirling's life "David Stirling - the Authorised Biography" by Alan Hoe, which
gives a detailed account of the history of the multinational SAS during the
North African campaign of 1941 to 1942, covering Stirling's original concept for
the SAS. The story goes on to tell how Stirling, at only 26 years of age, led
the first successful Special Operations raid behind German lines in December
1941, and over the course of the following year he was responsible, with his
unit, for the destruction of more than 400 aircraft, hundreds of vehicles and
thousands of tons of ammunition and fuel. And so the SAS was born.



Commenting on this announcement, HandMade plc's CEO, David Ravden, said: "Rupert
is without doubt one of Britain's foremost writers, having worked with Jodie
Foster, Mike Medavoy and Michael Mann, as well as the BBC.  This is an epic and
incredibly exciting project that HandMade is embarking upon. Everyone is
familiar with the SAS, but few people know of its origins. David Stirling was
the driving force behind the birth of the SAS, a clandestine group which sets
the standard for all special forces.  Like Lawrence of Arabia, Stirling was a
man of vision and a man of action.  We are delighted that HandMade plc has
seized this opportunity."



Commenting on the opportunity to adapt Stirling's life for the screen, Rupert
Walters said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be working with the team at HandMade
on this project.  I have been fascinated by the exploits and achievements of
David Stirling for many years and am looking forward to bringing his amazing
story to the big screen."
