Anchor Hanover Group ('Anchor') - Publication of Sustainability
Report
Anchor, England's largest not-for-profit provider of housing and
care for people in later life, announces the publication of its
sustainability report for the year ended 31 March 2022.
Sarah Jones, Chief Executive of Anchor said "At Anchor we're
committed to ensuring that older people live as independently as
possible in good quality housing and in a safe and caring
environment. Our role impacts society and the environment, and we
are committed to creating social value, mitigating the
environmental risks and impacts of our operations, and operating to
high standards of governance and financial control.
"This is the second year we have prepared our Sustainability
Report using the Sustainable Reporting Standard for Social Housing,
and it shows the breadth of our positive impact and how we continue
to ensure Anchor is a well-governed, sustainable organisation,
committed to providing homes where people continue to love living
in later life."
The sustainability report can be accessed at the following

Highlights from the report include;
-- We provide nearly 54,000 homes to more than 65,000 residents
across 1,700 different housing schemes, including over 100 care
homes. We're committed to doing more to meet the increasing needs
of older people in a sustainable way.
-- We hold data on the energy efficiency of nearly all our homes
and are in a strong position - 83% of our rented housing schemes
and care homes are rated at EPC C or above.
-- We are committed to building 5,700 new homes for older
people. 99.5% of our new homes built over the last five years are
rated EPC B or above. In 2021-22 we delivered 49 new homes to more
sustainable and energy efficient standards, with an average SAP
rating of 86. We also have 801 homes under construction and almost
500 in the pipeline.
-- Affordability is part of sustainability. Just under 99% of
our rented homes are let at social rent levels, 85% of which are
below Local Housing Allowance. Our BeWise financial support
services helped more than 2,400 residents last year who gained an
average of GBP6,500 each.
-- We deliver social value for our residents. An independent
evaluation carried out in 2020 assessed our social value benefit to
our residents at GBP6,200 per resident per year on average.
-- Our next steps are to develop our Environmental
Sustainability Strategy for 2023, setting out a clear and
transparent pathway to reducing our climate footprint, including
measuring our greenhouse gas emissions and meeting the net-zero
carbon target by 2050.
