Presstek's Products Enthusiastically Received By Market At drupa
2004 HUDSON, N.H., May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Presstek, Inc.
, a leading manufacturer and marketer of environmentally
responsible high tech digital imaging solutions for the graphic
arts and laser imaging markets, today announced that its new
products and innovations have been well received by the industry at
drupa, an international printing exhibition currently being held in
Dusseldorf, Germany. On Saturday, May 8th Presstek's President and
CEO Presstek Ed Marino highlighted the Company's new innovations to
over 80 industry journalists and analysts at its drupa press
conference. During his presentation Marino discussed the markets
served by the company, its brand, partners, and the new products
being featured at the show. Digital Offset Presses Presstek and its
partners announced two new DI press models at drupa 2004. The new
high productivity model is being demonstrated at drupa by
Presstek's OEM partners as the Ryobi 3404X DI, KBA 46 Karat Plus,
and KPG DirectPress 5634 DI. These new fully automated digital
offset presses deliver superior quality with a push of a button,
setting a new quality standard for digital offset printing.
Activity around the 46 Karat Plus on the Presstek stand has been
brisk. Presstek's Director of DI Marketing Stan Najmr said,
"Visitors from around the globe are truly impressed by the press'
level of automation and by the quality of the printed sheet, the
details and colors are outstanding." The second model is the new,
lower cost, entry-level model. This exciting new press implements
precisely the right balance of automation, quality, and price and
is designed to significantly broaden the market for DI technology.
Presstek's DI partners are scheduled to deliver this new
entry-level DI press system during the second half of 2004 with a
very competitive purchase price. Presstek's Chemistry-free CTP
Systems Presstek announced the new Dimension Excel CTP system,
which uses Presstek's process-free Applause plates and
chemistry-free Anthem plates. Based on new ProFire Excel imaging
technology, Dimension Excel platesetters produce up to 20 plates an
hour. Visitors at drupa have been enthusiastic about the high-level
of output quality achieved by the Dimension Excel systems and with
the systems new automation features. Presstek has taken orders for
over thirty Dimension CTP systems after only five days of the
fourteen-day drupa show. "We are excited about the crowd's level of
interest in our Dimension computer-to-plate solutions. We believe
this level of sales activity demonstrates that Presstek's
chemistry- and process-free computer-to-plate solutions are an
attractive solution for a broad array of print producers," said
David Ventola, Presstek's General Manager of Off-press products.
A.B. Dick's Vector TX52 Distributed by A.B. Dick, the Vector TX 52
utilizes Presstek's new SureFire imaging technology and
chemistry-free Freedom plates. Presstek's Director of Off-press
Marketing, John O'Rourke stated, "The Vector TX 52 is one of the
hottest CTP products at the show. It is engineered with the smaller
commercial printer in mind. The Vector TX 52's chemistry-free
imaging, high quality metal plates, and prices that are competitive
with polyester based CTP plates are an outstanding combination. In
addition, the Vector TX 52 allows Presstek to expand its market
reach to the small commercial printer." Industry Verifies
Presstek's Product Strategy Presstek's President and CEO Edward
Marino said, "So far, this has been a very exciting drupa for
Presstek. Our distribution network and their customers have
enthusiastically embraced our new products. But, to me, the most
exciting aspect of the show has been the validation of Presstek's
product strategy and business direction." "The industry has
recognized that process-free plates and direct imaging are the
sustaining technologies for offset printing," said Marino. "We
therefore expect to see an increasing number of product
announcements from other industry participants. This validation of
Presstek's long held strategic direction is good for Presstek and
the industry as a whole." Marino continued, "Presstek was first to
market with both process-free plate technology and direct-imaging
on press. Our chemistry-free products set the standard for quality,
cost-effective printing, and are designed to reduce the
environmental and health hazards associated with other imaging
platforms. Presstek has over ten years of experience in the
chemistry-free, direct imaging fields and the competition has a
long way to go to catch up. We are currently delivering the fourth
generation of both our process-free plates and laser imaging
applications, and are eagerly looking forward to the future. We
strongly believe that Presstek is solidly positioned to continue
its leadership role and plan to continue to bring innovative
products to the marketplace that will meet and exceed customer
needs." About Presstek Presstek, Inc. is a leading manufacturer and
