NEW YORK, March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten years ago,
Universal Music Group began consolidating independent video labels
to improve revenues and distribution strength. With Tom Sims
directing sales into national accounts, the UMG video group rapidly
grew to over $180 million per year
and into one of UMG's most profitable divisions. Now at
Hannover House, Inc. (OTC: HHSE) and managing the newly launched
Medallion Releasing, Inc. sales venture, Tom Sims is poised to strike gold yet
again. Six indie studios, including Hannover House, have
combined to elevate the new Medallion sales venture into one of the
most prolific media distributors in America, and the title release
count has already surpassed several major studios.
"The changes here have been profound in the past few months,"
said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of
Hannover House. "We have gone from a total six new release
titles in each of the past two years, to over 90 DVD and Blu-ray
releases for 2015. The core business of packaged goods
distribution has always been profitable for Hannover House.
This new business model takes what has been profitable and what has
been working, and escalates it by more than ten-fold. The
impact to our revenues has already been profound. Where this
takes us in June, July and beyond will be very exciting," he
concluded.
The Medallion Releasing model is based on the market reality
that key retail buyers prefer to buy from distributors representing
larger product lines, as opposed to buying each individual release
from different studios. The net result of the strengthened
representation is that each title has a better opportunity to
achieve maximum retail placement and revenues. Generally,
only the major studios represent sufficient revenue volume to merit
the level of retail support now available to the Medallion supplier
studios.
For the key June and July summer sales period, at which time the
video department modular shelves for Walmart, Target and Best Buy
are being reset for a 3-month period, the volume of titles from
Hannover House and Medallion Releasing ranks the company among the
top three most prolific suppliers. The company will be
releasing fourteen new items for the first time, as well as
fourteen re-priced campaigns, and seven multipack configured
titles. The total number of films being released by Hannover
House and Medallion during this key retail modular re-set period is
64 films on 35 items. As a comparison, during 2014, Hannover
House released only one new film onto DVD during the same two-month
time-frame.
New Release DVD & Blu-ray Titles for June & July
include: Silent No More, Salvation, Surf Party: Summer
Unleashed, Brutal Colors, Dinosaurs of the Jurassic, Doonby,
Susie's Hope, On Angel's Wings, Red Dirt Rising, Live at the Foxes
Den, Bad Apple, Los Scavengeros, The Honeymoon and Alcatraz: Prison
Escape.
Repriced and re-released titles (and Budget Bin items),
include: The Adventures of Chris Fable, Jules Verne's Mysterious Island, Love Beat the Hell Outta Me, Clunkers, Fathers
of the Sport, Zombie Warz, Amityville Asylum, Pappa Cap, Animal
Clinic, All's Faire In Love, Come Away Home, 3 Geezers, War
Flowers, Toys in the Attic and the multi-pack items: Pop-A-Cap
Urban Six Pack, Bullets & Brawn 5-Pack, Love & Laughter
5-Pack, Gruesome & Gore 5-Pack, Women's War 5-Pack, Men of
Mystery 5-Pack and the Ladies Men 5-Pack.
The overall USA Market for the
sales of physical DVD and Blu-ray units has held steady for the
past two years at about $8 billion in
revenues. The growth of digital and streaming media delivery
platforms is expected to slowly erode the packaged goods industry,
but will have little or no impact on distributors such as Hannover
House and Medallion that control all media rights.
In addition to Hannover's
aggressive home video slate, several higher profile theatrical
titles will drive sales for Q3 and Q4 this year, including Dark
Awakening, The Algerian and Bonobos: Back to the Wild.
Hannover House is also involved in seven feature film productions,
including the event-level fantasy epic, "Mother Goose: Journey to
Utopia."
Another exciting new venture for Hannover House launching this
summer is the consumer roll-out of the Company's VODWIZ
video-on-demand streaming portal. This website and IPTV
portal will offer consumers the opportunity to stream thousands of
independent and studio films and television programs, with payment
on either a per-transaction basis or through a discounted monthly
subscription. The VODWIZ product line will include several
thousand independent studio titles which are not currently
available through other Video-On-Demand portals.
