--EDP's U.S. assets cannot be included in a potential EUR9 billion takeover by China Three Gorges, the U.S. ambassador to Portugal, George E. Glass, said in an interview with Portuguese news website Observador.

--"Having another country control part of your critical infrastructure is dangerous, it's a dangerous path to go down," Mr. Glass told Observador.

--EDP is the third-largest renewable energy provider in the U.S., according to Observador.
