Whistle-Stop Train Delivers Hazardous Materials Safety Message NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A special train operated by Norfolk Southern Railway Company will visit five cities Oct. 11-15 to promote Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response (TRANSCAER), a nationwide program to increase community understanding of the safe transportation of hazardous materials and the importance of emergency planning. The schedule for the 2004 TRANSCAER Whistle-Stop train will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as follows: * Oct. 11 - Decatur, Ill., (Norfolk Southern, 1735 E. Condit St.) * Oct. 12 - St. Louis, Mo., (Norfolk Southern, E. Carrie Ave. Entrance off Hall St.) * Oct. 13 - Princeton, Ind., (Norfolk Southern, 220 E. Garfield St.) * Oct. 14 - Louisville, Ky., (Norfolk Southern, 450 Hardin St.) * Oct. 15 - Danville, Ky., (Norfolk Southern, 464 Fryes Lane) At each location, state and local emergency planning committees, emergency responders and government officials can participate in hands-on drills and training sessions. Railroad training tank cars, specialized emergency response vehicles and over-the-road tank trucks will be on display. This is the fifth TRANSCAER train Norfolk Southern has sponsored since 1994.
