The honor, presented at the CBA’s annual Bank Presidents Seminar
on January 9, recognizes Hartnak’s 43-year career in banking. He
joined U.S. Bank in April 2005 where he retired as vice chairman of
consumer banking and member of the company’s managing committee in
2013.
In addition to his distinguished banking career, Hartnack was a
pilot in the Marines from 1967 to 1971, flying 220 combat missions
over Southeast Asia. He was awarded 14 Air Medals and the Navy
Commendation Medal. He was instrumental in bolstering U.S. Bank’s
programs for veteran customers, employees and their families.
“Rick has been an instrumental leader not only for the banking
industry, but for the communities he has served, and in a most
significant way for our country. He has undeniably led a life of
vigorous success and meaning, and we are thrilled that he is being
honored for his legacy,” said Sean Foley, regional president of
U.S. Bank in Southern California and vice chair of the CBA
board.
Hartnack was a past chairman of the CBA. He also served as a
member of CBA’s Banker Benefits board of directors, as chairman of
its Privacy Task Force and a member of our Public Affairs Fund
Administrative Committee. He will be profiled in the
January/February issue of the CBA’s magazine.
