Prologis Inc. on Wednesday unveiled new goals in its sustainability efforts, including a commitment to achieve net zero emissions across its value chain by 2040.

The logistics-focused real-estate investment trust set several interim targets, including 1 gigawatt of solar generation capacity, supported by storage, by 2025; carbon-neutral construction by 2025; and net zero emissions from its operations by 2030.

Prologis said it has been carbon neutral for its scope 1 and 2 emissions, or those emissions that are owned or controlled by a company, since 2019. The San Francisco company said its 2040 goal also includes scope 3 emissions, those related to a firm's activities but outside its operational control.

Prologis said it has been investing in energy-related lines of business, including electric-vehicle charging and onsite solar, adding that it currently has about 200 charging stations and 325 megawatts of rooftop solar generation capacity.
