Ams AG (AMS.EB) said Monday that it has sold its MEMS microphone interface design to Knowles Corp. (KN) for a total cash consideration of $58 million.

The Austrian sensor solutions company said its ASIC design business for MEMS microphones has worked in partnership with Knowles on bespoke audio sensor interfaces for years.

The decision to divest comes as Ams continues to focus on sensor solutions and in view of significant future opportunities in optical technologies, the company said.

The deal has already closed, Ams said.
