KBR to Execute Equipment Installation at One of the Nation’s Largest Power Generating Stations

KBR (NYSE: KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a
contract by Southern Company for the installation of flue gas
desulfurization (FGD) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR)
equipment, related ductwork, and auxiliaries at two 880,000
kilowatt coal-fired units at Georgia Power’s Plant Scherer. Plant
Scherer is a 3,520,000-kilowatt coal-fired facility located near
Macon, Ga. and is one of the largest single generating stations in
the nation.
KBR will provide installation of all equipment and associated
piping, steel, ductwork, electrical, instrumentation and related
work. KBR will also be responsible for the procurement of piping
and valves; receive all equipment and materials at the site; and
provide storage, rigging, assembly of modules, lifting, placing,
connecting and other services as necessary. The contract award
follows the completion of various projects for Southern Company by
KBR, most recently the Heavy Structural Steel construction project
at Plant Scherer.
