United Spirits Executive: Open To Bidding For Teacher's Scotch Whiskey Brand

India's United Spirits Ltd. (532432.BY) is open to making a bid
for premium scotch whiskey brand Teacher's, a top executive said
Thursday.
"Teacher's is a good fit for us, because in India it's the
largest selling scotch whiskey brand," Managing Director Ashok
Capoor told reporters.
Teacher's is a brand of Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc.,
part of Fortune Brands Inc. (FO).
Capoor, however, clarified that the companies haven't approached
each other in this regard.
"We are certainly interested in any brand that is relevant to
the Indian market, or any other emerging market that we are
focussing on," said Vijay Mallya, chairman of UB Group, which
includes United Spirits.
