Workers at two natural-gas facilities operated by Chevron in Australia have called off plans to restart industrial action after endorsing draft deals on pay and conditions.

The labor dispute between Chevron and workers at its Gorgon and Wheatstone liquefied-natural-gas facilities in Australia has rattled global energy markets. The operations account for roughly 7% of global supply.

The Offshore Alliance, a partnership between two local unions, said members at a mass meeting on Tuesday endorsed three draft enterprise agreements and agreed to suspend industrial action.

Workers recently voted to restart action beginning Oct. 19, alleging Chevron had attempted to walk back on an agreement recommended by Australia's workplace arbiter last month.

"We hope this can now be put to rest," said Offshore Alliance spokesperson Brad Gandy. A Chevron spokesperson couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
