Potlatch Corporation is a real estate investment trust (REIT). Through the Company’s wholly owned subsidiaries, it operates real estate sales and development business, and five wood products manufacturing facilities that produce lumber and plywood. The company operates in three business segments: Resource, Real Estate and Wood Products. The Resource segment manages the Company’s timberlands. The business of its Real Estate segment consists primarily of the sale of selected non-core timberland real estate. Its Wood Products segment manufactures and markets lumber and plywood. The Company derives of its revenues from investments in real estate, including the sale of standing timber. In March 2010, the Company sold its Idaho particleboard manufacturing facility’s buildings and equipment. On June 30, 2010, it sold the railroad it operated in Idaho. In November 2010, the Company sold its Prescott, Arkansas lumber mill.
