September 17 2015 - 2:40PM
Dow Jones News
American Airlines said Thursday that technical issues had forced
it to halt all flights heading to its big hubs in Dallas/Fort
Worth, Chicago and Miami.
A spokesman for the largest U.S. carrier by traffic said the
ground stop at the three airports started at 11.30 a.m. Central
time, 30 minutes after the problems first surfaced. He said the
problems affected mainline flights and those operated by its
regional partners.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a tweet that
American had requested a halt on flights to and from the three
airports, citing a "computer issue" at the airline.
American said in a tweet that it was "working to resolve
technical issues."
