ADRs End Mostly Higher; ASML Rises

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on
Thursday.
ASML Holding NV (ASML, ASML.AE) was among the companies with
ADRs that traded actively.
The BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged up
0.6% to 119.03. The European index increased 0.8% to 116.57, the
Asian index eased 0.02% to 128.28, the Latin American index rose
0.6% to 170.66 and the emerging-markets index edged up 0.05% to
224.14.
ASML agreed to buy Taiwan-based Hermes Microvision Inc. for
about US$3.09 billion, the latest in a string of deals in the
global semiconductor industry. ASML, based in Veldhoven, the
Netherlands, is the world's largest manufacturer by sales of
lithography systems, which are used to print circuit patterns on
silicon wafers. Hermes Microvision specializes in making pattern
verification systems for semiconductor devices. ADRs rose 1.5% to
$95.57.
