Italy's antitrust authority AGCM said Wednesday that it has
fined Enel SpA, its subsidiary Servizio Elettrico Nazionale SpA,
and Eni SpA a total of 12.5 million euros ($15.1 million) over
customer billing issues.
AGCM said the findings of the investigation showed the energy
companies had unjustifiably rejected some users' requests to not
pay electricity and gas bills that were served late.
Enel said in a statement that it acted in compliance with the
relevant legislation and reserves the right to take any action to
protect itself.
Eni wasn't immediately available for comment.
