eMagin Corporation (AMEX:EMA), the leader in OLED microdisplays, is demonstrating its new OLED-XL(tm) technology at the Soldier Technology Conference 2006. Visitors can see the new microdisplays and learn more about them on Wednesday and Thursday at the conference exhibition in the Ibis London Earls Court Hotel. For the first time in Europe, eMagin will demonstrate its new OLED-XL microdisplays, which provide improved brightness and by far the best power-efficiency available for any SVGA microdisplay system. In addition, the OLED-XL utilizes eMagin's proven SVGA+ and SVGA 3D microdisplay ICs. The new OLED-XL devices typically demonstrate up to ten-times longer lifetimes and up to five-times the efficiency of eMagin's current products. That is, the OLED-XL displays can provide significantly higher luminance at the same level of power consumption levels as eMagin's current industry-leading microdisplays. "With its emphasis on power-efficient soldier systems, SoldierTech is the ideal place to preview our new OLED-XL technology and microdisplays." said Susan Jones, chief marketing and strategy officer, eMagin Corporation. "We've built the OLED-XL microdisplays on the same active matrix integrated circuits we've used for our SVGA+ and SVGA 3D microdisplays so that customers can design in an upgrade with minimal effort." eMagin will also demonstrate its award-winning Z800 3DVisor(tm) which provides full-color, 360-degree, 3D stereovision through its state-of-the-art headtracking and SVGA 3D OLED microdisplays. With stereo sound and a noise-canceling microphone, the Z800 3DVisor enables group training scenarios as well as individual-based training sessions in a realistic 3D environment. The Z800 3DVisor enables portable, cutting-edge military visual training simulations - so realistic that the product has also been used in treating post-traumatic stress disorder in soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to its OLED-XL microdisplays and award-winning Z800 3DVisor, eMagin will also demonstrate some prominent OLED-based products from the following manufacturers. All are designed and qualified to operate in harsh environments. -- Quantum 3D's (www.quantum3d.com) Expedition System(tm) integrates their Thermite(tm) tactical visual computer with eMagin's Z800 3DVisor to provide a simulation and training tool for deployed mission training and rehearsal. The Expedition is a wireless, immersive, self-contained, man-wearable, open-architecture COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) platform. -- Rockwell Collins's (www.rockwellcollins.com) full-color SO35 monocular viewer, developed for the Land Warrior Program, is a multi-purpose device, capable of providing thermal sighting and situational awareness. The SO-35 has been selected for both the U.S. Army Land Warrior and Mounted Warrior programs. -- Liteye Systems' (www.liteye.com) LE-500 augmented reality (see-through) viewer bringing virtual imaging to commercial and military customers in Europe and North America. -- Total Fire Group's (www.totalfiregroup.com) FireWarrior micro thermal imaging system, a monochrome, helmet-based unit provides hands-free thermal imaging for firefighters, leaving both hands free for the work of fighting while providing critical visual information. OLED - Ideal for Near-Eye Applications Owing to the inherent benefits of OLED technology, eMagin's SVGA+ microdisplays deliver the resolution, brightness, and speed for a broad range of defense and security applications - at the lowest system power of any near-eye solution. Because OLEDs refresh in microseconds rather than milliseconds, eMagin microdisplays deliver images and information virtually flicker-free in these applications, making them comfortably usable for extended periods. Since they emit light in all directions, OLED microdisplays also accommodate a greater range of pupil movement than traditional LCDs. The world's lowest power display solution, they provide soldiers with critical information for extended periods in harsh environments, ranging from extreme cold to high heat without additional heaters or coolers. In addition, because the displays are solid-state, they hold the image, even in high-vibration environments. About eMagin Corporation A leader in OLED technology and personal display systems, eMagin manufactures and integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems technologies to create a virtual image comparable to that of a large computer monitor or a large-screen television. eMagin's OLED displays have been incorporated into a variety of near-eye imaging products for military, industrial, medical, and consumer markets that choose eMagin's award-winning technology as a core component for their solutions. eMagin's first personal display system, the Z800 3DVisor, provides superb 3D stereovision and headtracking for PC gaming, training and simulation, and other applications. It won the CEA's Best of Innovations award in the digital display category and won additional recognition in the electronic gaming category. eMagin's microdisplay manufacturing and R&D operations are co-located with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, New York. System design facilities and sales and marketing are located in Bellevue, Washington. A sales office is located in Tokyo, Japan.
