MARKET TALK: High-Grade Companies Keep Flocking To Debt Market
February 28 2012 - 11:19AM
Dow Jones News
10:49 (Dow Jones) Five high-grade issuers jumped into the
primary market Tuesday to take advantage of strong investor
appetite, improving market tone and record-low yields. Burlington
Northern Santa Fe, Deutsche Telekom (DTE.XE) and Heinz (HNZ) are
all marketing 2-part deals while US Bancorp (USB) is floating a
10-year deal and TransCanada (TRP) is issuing 3-year notes. Ryan
Newth at SunTrust says companies are exiting the blackout period
after releasing quarterly results and taking advantage of heavy
investor demand while they can. "Funds inflows...have been so
massive and trading volumes are still fairly low, so the only place
to deploy cash is in the new-issue space."
