Brazil's leading cellular operator, Vivo Participacoes (VIV), will pay 104 million Brazilian reals ($60 million) in dividends in the form of interest on its own capital, the company said late Tuesday in a statement.

The total amount represents a payment of BRL0.22 per share.

The payment will be based on shareholders' positions as of Dec. 31. It didn't unveil the date for the payment.

Vivo is jointly controlled by Spain's Telefonica SA (TEF) and Portugal Telecom SGPS SA (PT).
