Kohl's Department Stores (NYSE:KSS) today announced that Tom Kingsbury is joining the company as senior executive vice president, a newly created position. Kingsbury, 53, will oversee store operations and information technology for Kohl's. He will report directly to Larry Montgomery, Kohl's chairman and CEO, and will join Arlene Meier, chief operating officer and Kevin Mansell, president, as a principal of the company. "We are excited to welcome Tom as a principal and look forward to drawing on his extensive retail experience as we continue to execute our growth strategy," said Montgomery. Kingsbury has 30 years of retail leadership across several divisions of the former May Department Stores Company, the last seven as president and CEO of Filene's/Kaufmann's, May's largest division. Kingsbury, a native of Wisconsin, will assume his new position in August. Based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., Kohl's is a family-focused, value-oriented specialty department store offering moderately priced national brand apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty and home products.
