KBR (NYSE: KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Southern Company for the installation of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment, related ductwork, and auxiliaries at two 880,000 kilowatt coal-fired units at Georgia Power’s Plant Scherer. Plant Scherer is a 3,520,000-kilowatt coal-fired facility located near Macon, Ga. and is one of the largest single generating stations in the nation.

KBR will provide installation of all equipment and associated piping, steel, ductwork, electrical, instrumentation and related work. KBR will also be responsible for the procurement of piping and valves; receive all equipment and materials at the site; and provide storage, rigging, assembly of modules, lifting, placing, connecting and other services as necessary. Additionally, we have developed an innovative execution plan that will enable us to provide the quickest, most efficient execution of the project, while employing the highest standard of safety and quality processes.”
