HERSHEY, Pa., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Hershey Company (NYSE:HSY) today announced that Andy McCormick is joining the company as Vice President, Public Affairs, effective November 10. McCormick will report to Charlene H. Binder, Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer. In this new position, McCormick will lead Hershey's global Corporate Social Responsibility, Community Relations, Product Publicity and Corporate Communications activities. "Andy brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in communications and public affairs to The Hershey Company," Binder said. Andy will play a key leadership role in linking Hershey's Corporate Social Responsibility, communications and brand-building efforts to drive our business results." McCormick will be responsible for building Hershey's brands through product publicity, and will be responsible for all internal and external non- financial communications. In addition, he will lead Hershey's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, including sustainability and ethical supply chain solutions, environmental stewardship, and leadership in the area of responsible cocoa growing. He will also lead corporate giving, continue to strengthen the company's ties with Milton Hershey School, and lead community outreach and operations for Hershey's Track & Field Games. McCormick joins Hershey from Pfizer Inc., where he was Vice President, Worldwide Communications. Since joining Pfizer in 1993, McCormick has led media relations, and product, financial and public affairs communications for the world's largest pharmaceutical company. He also led communications on issues such as wellness and prevention, medical access in the United States and developing world, and the dangers of counterfeit drugs. Before joining Pfizer, he held positions at IBM Corporation and at daily newspapers in Virginia and Wilmington, Del. He has also worked in Ghana as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. McCormick has a bachelor's degree from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. He is originally from Lancaster, Pa.
