Industrial gas giant Air Products & Chemicals Inc. (APD) has extended its PRISM Hydrogen Generator product line and can now produce more than 4,500 normal cubic meters of hydrogen per hour (4.1 million standard cubic feet per day).

Air Products' PRISM Hydrogen Generators, used for on-site gas production, are based on the company's proprietary reformer technology in combination with hydrogen pressure swing adsorption capabilities. The generators can offer hydrogen at very low cost to industries such as chemical processing, glass, electronics, steel and metals processing in all geographic locations worldwide.

Air Products has so far contracted more than 30 and installed over 20 PRISM Hydrogen Generators that are operating around the world. Currently, Air Products is working with various global applications for larger PRISM hydrogen plants. It can readily access Air Products' global sales, supply chain, product manufacturing, and operations network to meet the broad range of customer requirements around the world.

These PRISM Hydrogen Generators feature a compact modular design that facilitates easy field installation, a fast start-up and delivers high reliability. Air Products has a separate technical support team that enhances customer’s safety, helps to increase process efficiency and optimizes gas usage.

Air Products is the leading global supplier of hydrogen to refineries and is the world's largest hydrogen distribution network. The company is involved in over 150 hydrogen fueling projects in the U.S. and 20 countries globally. The extension of the PRISM Hydrogen Generators for on-site gas production is an important addition to the Air Products portfolio of hydrogen supply options together with traditional bulk liquid and gas delivery, large on-site HyCO plants and pipeline supply.
