SAN ANTONIO, Texas,
Sept. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The
American Payroll Association (APA) today launched a Paycheck
Maximizer smartphone application to help workers potentially add
hundreds of dollars to their paycheck instantly. The free
application was developed by the APA and is being released in
conjunction with National Payroll Week. The app helps workers
properly fill out a Form W-4 to better match the taxes withheld
from each paycheck with their actual tax liability.

ADP, the world's leading payroll services provider, is the lead
sponsor of National Payroll Week.
"ADP is pleased to be the lead sponsor for this year's National
Payroll Week as we recognize the important work being done by APA
and payroll professionals around the country," said Regina Lee, President, ADP National Account
Services, Major Account Services, GlobalView and ADP Canada. "As
the leading advocate for the advancement of payroll professionals,
the APA is a catalyst for connecting the payroll industry with
employers and government. We are delighted to work with the APA to
support the growth and success of payroll professionals in
organizations across the United
States."
Last year the average tax refund was over $3,000, an overpayment of more than $250 a month in taxes. The Paycheck
Maximizer app will make it easier for America's workers to more
accurately fill out their Form W-4 to put the money back in their
paycheck.
The free app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones; to
download it, visit www.mypaycheck.org.
Americans are still struggling in the current economy according
to preliminary results from the 2011 "Getting Paid In America"
survey, with sixty-eight percent of respondents indicating they
live paycheck to paycheck. The survey of working Americans
currently being conducted by the APA provides valuable insight into
how workers are paid in America.
"We wanted this app to help Americans where they need it most --
their paycheck," said Dan Maddux,
executive director of the APA. "A quick adjustment to an employee's
Form W-4 can reduce how much tax is taken from his or her pay,
giving a boost on the next paycheck and beyond."
The Paycheck Maximizer app was launched in conjunction with
APA's annual public awareness campaign, National Payroll Week
(NPW), held annually the week of Labor
Day. The campaign seeks to educate Americans on free
payroll-related benefits such as direct deposit, 401(k) plans and
Flexible Spending Accounts to ease savings, reduce tax burden and
maximize paychecks. For more information on the campaign, visit
