Walgreens to Replace GE in Dow Industrials

General Electric Co. will be removed from the Dow Jones
Industrial Average--and replaced by Walgreens Boots Alliance -- in
the latest setback for a troubled conglomerate that once had
highest market value of any U.S. corporation.
General Electric had been one of the original components in the
index of 30 stocks, but the company ran into financial trouble last
year that forced its new leader, John Flannery, to take aggressive
actions, including cutting its dividend in half and triggering a
restructuring to eliminate thousands of jobs and cast of billions
of dollars in assets.
